This is very simply a must and a non-negotiable.
Confidentiality is something I take seriously as I have had my own legal right to it breached.
In 2014 I was a patient, a critically ill patient. A member of the ward staff assigned to look after me sent a text message to my colleague - a friend of hers - informing them of my condition.
1) without my consent
2) without it being explained to me yet! This colleague then messaged me informing ME of my own condition!
